Visit Barcelona in 2 days: Guide

✈️ Why Barcelona?

Barcelona is a big city (the agglomeration has around 5 million inhabitants), 10 million tourists a year, the world's largest park, highly original architecture and simply incredible gastronomy. It's a place to explore, to flirt, to enrich. 

Bref, Barcelona boasts a heritage unique in the world

You might think that visiting this jewel in 2 days would be a challenge; but well undertaken and planned in advance, your séjour will enable you to see the essentials and feel the vibrancy of this city.

If you're looking to expand your visits and complete your own journeys, don't forget that Barcelona has a bus, trolley or streetcar service for quicker transfers.

Required: in order to spend 2 great days sightseeing, choose flights with early morning landings and late evening departures, and of course, accommodation in the city center.

The Aerobus is an excellent way of getting to the center of Barcelona from the airport (takes 35 minutes, costs around 10 euros and is every 5 to 10 minutes)

 

 

🌍 Day 1 

Morning from 9H: 

  • Visit the Sagrada Familia (The architectural masterpiece),
  • Nearby (10mn) you can visit the casa Mila and/or the casa Battlo (the originality of these buildings has taken the world by storm), 
  • File towards the Palais de musique Catalane (one of the most beautiful music halls in the world).
  • A 15-minute walk will take you to the Rambla, Barcelona's artistic heart; perfect for a little shopping.
  • A few hundred meters away, you enter the Gotico district, the city's historic center with its cathedrals and typical squares and boutiques.
  • Finally, dîner on the historic port with its multiple restaurants or bars à Tapas.

👉 This tour is optimized; and the sites indicated are more or less 1 km apart, leaving you plenty of time to visit these monuments.

You can eat on the go, you'll be spoilt for choice,  but don't forget that you only have 2 days to cover this city!!

It is not recommended to visit the Sagrada Familia on Sundays (opening at 10.30am)

 

🧭 Day 2

  • Visit the MOCO Museum where contemporary works by Warhol, Bansky, and Dali can be found (opening at 10 am)
  • At 800m, you'll reach the Boqueria market, a vast covered market where you can see all kinds of d'étals and eat.
  • Take public transport to the lush Parc Guell (another Gaudi masterpiece) to recharge your batteries after the hustle and bustle of La Boqueria.
  • If you still have time, two steps from the park, summon your courage and climb up to Turó de la Rovira, overlooking the city. It's an impressive spot!

 

 

⚠️ When to visit and for what budget

  • You can visit Barcelona three quarters of the year, from March to November
  • Avoid tourist periods (beginning of July & end of August) and Sunday returns
  • As with any very touristy city, the most expensive part of this trip remains the accommodation. 
  • The price of a return ticket from a major French city starts at 90€
